NNMFHC Hosts Bradley Free Clinic for AMP Site Visit to Expand Medication Access

Kilmarnock, VA — The Northern Neck-Middlesex Free Health Clinic (NNMFHC) recently welcomed leaders from Bradley Free Clinic for a site visit focused on expanding access to affordable medications through Rx Partnership’s statewide Access to Medication Program (AMP).

Bradley Free Clinic is exploring ways to partner with Rx Partnership to serve free clinics across Southwest Virginia. During their visit, Bradley’s CEO, Janine Underwood, and Pharmacist-in-Charge, Bryan Lewis, met with NNMFHC staff to learn how the Clinic operates as a Central Fill pharmacy in the AMP program.

Through a partnership with Rx Partnership (RxP), NNMFHC serves as a regional hub that receives bulk medications at reduced cost and fills prescriptions on behalf of six other free clinics. This partnership lowers medication costs, streamlines distribution, and improves access for uninsured patients across the region.

“We are having to think outside of the box with a regional approach to meet growing need,” said Jeannie Nelson, CEO of NNMFHC. “By partnering with RxP and collaborating with organizations like Bradley, we’re able to remove barriers and create solutions for better healthcare access.”

Across Virginia, free clinics are working together in new ways to maximize limited resources and expand care for uninsured and low-income residents. NNMFHC also adopted the HOPE Initiative - originally launched at Bradley in Roanoke, VA more than a decade ago - becoming the first clinic to replicate the program in 2024. The expanded model includes two Peer Recovery Specialists who are also trained Community Health Workers, further supporting patients navigating substance use, mental health disorders, and other social determinants of health.

This site visit marks another step toward strengthening partnerships across Virginia and improving access to essential care for communities in need.
